We all know how incredibly screwed up health care is in this country. No sense going over that; it's preaching to the choir. But if you want to see some anecdotal cases that will break your heart, head over to this Reddit thread where the OP talks about their mother needing immediate care for a major ovarian cyst... and simply not being able to get it.
The story is sad enough, but if you read through the comments, it gets worse. Discussions range from whether people should skip insurance, and then just declare bankruptcy if injured, to insurers going back years to find car sales... and then demanding that that money be forfeited before a procedure would be covered.
